Where are the Main Automobile Groups Located?
Many car brands that are originally from different countries are under one automobile group, so the question is, where are the brands we use really from? We are talking about where the central power of the automobile group is located. In the following graph, we have grouped the leading automotive groups according to the continent in which they are headquartered. The graph clearly shows that Asia is leading the car manufacturing race, followed by Europe, and then, North America.
North America
Here we can find the three successful car companies in the United States of America: General Motors, which includes the well-known and popular brands Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick; Ford, with Ford and Lincoln; and Elon Musk’s revolutionary electric cars company, Tesla.
Europe
In Europe, we can find a total of 7 automobile groups: Aston Martin, the iconic luxury British brand; BMW Group, with the admired BMW and the increasingly popular Smart; Stellantis, one of the biggest, most successful automobile groups, which controls many good car brands such as Fiat, Opel, Maserati, Citroën, and Jeep, among others; the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, another powerful group with brands such as Mitsubishi, Alpine, Dacia, Nissan and Renault; Ferrari, the luxury sport cars brand; and finally, the Volkswagen Group, which controls a combination of good-quality, everyday brands, like Seat and Skoda, and luxury brands such as Bugatti, Porsche, and Lamborghini.
Asia
As it has been mentioned above, Asia is the current powerhouse when it comes to the number of car manufacturers present in the continent. With the considerable number of 27 automobile groups that have their headquarters here, it has a notable edge over the other continents.
Among those 27 automobile groups, some of the most successful include: Tata Motors, which controls Tata, Jaguar, and Land Rover; Geely, one of the groups that encompass a large number of brands such as Volvo, Lynk & Co, Polestar and Geometry; Chery, which includes Karry, Omoda, Chery, Cowin Auto, Exceed and Jetour; BAIC Group, which, among others, owns Arcfox, a brand also present in Spain; BYD, a very prominent group in China; and SAIC, with brands such as Roewe and Maxus.
